The Carriage
The carriage is similar to a typical lift truck because the lifting attachment could be tilted backwards and forwards from its horizontal. The tilt that is possible on this machine exceeds more than that of the vertical masts. There is a huge variety of lifting attachments offered, and this positioning ability makes them as effective as possible.
The majority of telehandlers have the capability of tilting to a position which is actually parallel to the ground. Some models have rotating carriages as well. This allows the operator to adjust the lifting attachment radially. This translates to the load being capable of being tilted backwards and forwards, and side to side.
Load Capacity
Figuring out a telehandler's load capacity is a much different exercise than it is on a vertical mast model. The capacity of the unit is completely dependent on such things as: boom extension and angle, whether the unit is lifting on rubber tires or on outriggers, and the amount of boom transaction deployed, if this is applicable. What's more, which lifting attachment plays a really important part, as does the wind, the grade the machine is operating on and so on. All of these specifics could be changing constantly and this gives the operator a lot more information to think about.
Usually, telehandlers have several load charts available in order for the operator to reference so they can determine the load capacity of a certain lift. Depending on the model in particular and the configuration of the boom, the load capacity may vary by thousands of pounds all together.
