Various Kinds of Aerial Lift
A specialized type of heavy machine that allows a person to be raised into the air is aerial lifts. These equipment are typically used to complete repairs on areas which are high up in the air like on roofs, near power lines and street-light fixtures. Similar to most tools, there are various kinds of aerial lifts which could be utilized to carry out different jobs. For the utmost safety, each type of different type of machine requires proper training and specific qualifications prior to utilizing it.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are often called Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic form of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform that is raised up using pneumatic power and are mostly used indoors. Normally, scissor lifts are the safest kind of lift models. When totally compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven similar to large carts. Generally, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone can use these devices, employees should be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
Compared to a scissor lift, boom lifts are a lot more complicated type of aerial lift equipment. A boom lift has a wide base in order to keep the lift anchored. It utilizes a jointed arm which has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box situated in the bucket which allows the operator to lift and lower the bucket. Because the arm of the boom is jointed, it could also move from side to side. The boom lift resembles a tail of a metal scorpion. Usually, it is utilized in outdoor construction applications. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to run compared to scissor lifts, hence, operators should be licensed separately for these types of lifts.
