On a forklift, there are a variety of different means which raise and lower the lifts, like: scissors lifts, rack and pinion lifts, telescoping lifts, screw lifts and articulated lifts. The scissor lift uses crisscrossed folding supports and a screw system that draws the members together. Rack and pinion lifts use a pinion, that is a small drive gear, to drive a straight-toothed rack to lift the cargo. The telescoping lift system is made with multiple sections that extend and retract into and out of each other to attain lifting action. Screw lifts use threads to raise the lift. Articulated lifts utilize a mechanism involving many parts that unfold or articulate. An example of an articulated lift is the "cherry picker."
Lift truck Material Handling
In material handling methods, there is lots of reasons to keep up with innovations. Material handling tools and the methods can be used to deal with increased geographical coverage, more SKUs, and the requirement to lower inventories. Machinery which are well ahead of the technological curve could help maximize productivity and increase profitability.
Lift truck Battery & Charging Technology
The decision to convert from traditional, internal combustion forklifts to electric lift trucks is a smart one as the newest line-ups of electric lift trucks offer higher capacities and longer run-times than ever before. Charger and battery combinations are offering more power for longer periods than older systems were capable of accomplishing. Improvements in both battery and charger technologies are not just making electric lift trucks more productive but they are making it possible to have more environmentally friendly warehouse operations.
The electric powered machines utilize Li-ion batteries or Lithium-Ion batteries. The Li-ion batteries show remarkable promise, though this technology is still somewhat new. They are not only smaller but are capable of holding up to six times the charge of conventional lead acid batteries. Li-ion batteries have really low maintenance needs and are able to maximize opportunity charging through zero memory technology.
