JLG Telehandlers Pennsylvania
John L. Grove decided to retire after spending many years working side by side with his brother to build their crane manufacturing company into a global leader. His wife Cora as well as John celebrated their retirement by going on a cross-country journey in their recreational vehicle. After that trip, JLG Industries, Inc. emerged and became the world's leading producer of specialized material handling machinery and mobile aerial work platforms.
John spent much of the time during the R.V. trip talking to prior business associates who the Groves were visiting on their trip. While they were visiting the Hoover Dam, tragically, 2 workers were accidentally electrocuted on scaffolding. Through following conversations, John saw a huge untapped market for a kind of machine which can quickly and safely lift people into the air in order to carry out maintenance and construction work.
After John and his wife returned from the trip, John decided to take action. He and two close friends started a business and then purchased a small metal fabrication company in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania. In 1970, with an initial group of 20 workers, the trio built and sold the first JLG aerial work platform. Numerous components of the basic design elements of that very first equipment are still being incorporated into the existing machinery
The company has come a very long way since John L. Grove drove back into town from his cross-country trip and have grown significantly ever since they debuted their very first aerial work platform. Even these days, JLG continues to expand into additional worldwide markets. Many innovative products are made to help customers be more productive and work safer.
